To Do (poem)

Things that I’m supposed to do:
I drink a cup of tea
Before I start the brand new day
(This thing I do for me),
I open up my eyes and heart
To do the things for you,
I put out fires one by one
As we all must do.
I hope your day is lovelier
Than mine promised to be,
Because, my dear, you are more dear
Than I am here to me.
